Specialist assessment

Our consultant ophthalmic surgeon provides assessment and advice on eye conditions — from dry eye and cataracts to when surgery may help. Some pathways lead to a referral for in-person care or surgery rather than an online treatment.

Looking after your eyes day to day

For dry, tired or strained eyes, lubricating drops and macular-support supplements are available without prescription. The macula relies on carotenoids the body can’t make itself, which is why eye supplements are among the most popular in the UK.

When to seek urgent care

Sudden vision loss, eye pain, flashes or a curtain across your vision need urgent attention — contact your optometrist, A&E or call 111. Our service is not for eye emergencies.

Over-the-counter eye products are available in our shop now. For anything that needs examination or surgery, our specialist will guide you to the right in-person pathway.

Common questions

Do eye supplements really work?

Evidence is strongest for specific at-risk groups (for example certain stages of age-related macular degeneration). For general eye health, supplements support a balanced diet rather than replace clinical care. Your optometrist can advise what’s right for you.

How often should I have my eyes tested?

Most adults should have an eye test at least every two years, or more often if advised. Eye tests can pick up conditions before you notice symptoms.
